South Central Region of the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators

Association of Presbyterian Church Educators is organized into fourteen regions, thirteen in the USA and the newly created Fourteenth region of Canada. Our region is South Central or SCRAPCE. It's boundaries are contiguous with the Synod of the Sun therefore we include educators from Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Texas. When one joins APCE one automatically joins SCRAPCE.

The mission of APCE is to connect, enrich, empower, and sustain persons serving in educational ministry in the Reformed family of churches. In addition SCRACPE is committed to the following:

  • To build the bonds of mutual concern, professional integrity and Christian fellowship
  • To encourage educators to seek continuing education beyond the local church for the purpose of certification and increasing proficiency in leadership for the church.
  • To serve as advocates for church educators in this region and on the national level through membership in APCE
  • To identify and interest qualified candidates to serve as church educators in the membership denominations.
  • To offer the resources of APCE to Christian Education Leaders in all congregations.

Membership is open to professional church educators, volunteers in Christian education, retired members of APCE, students working for a degree in Christian Education and clergy who work in the nurture ministries and are current members of the Association of Presbyterian Church Educators who work in that region.

SCRAPCE holds two business meetings each year: one during the APCE annual event and one in the fall at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

Members keep in touch via a newsletter, the internet, and face to face at regional educational events held at Austin Seminary twice a year.
